When someone is suffering from diarrhoea they should consume more liquids because they tend to get dehydrated. Because of the numerous times that they have to go to the bathroom they are passing a lot of fluid in their stool so liquids are recommended.

Diarrhea will cause you to be dehydrated, so you need to drink a lot of fluids, especially ones that are going to rehydrate and replace the vitamins and minerals that you have lost, so I would probably recommend Gatorade. I would NOT recommend, as someone else did, that you drink only sodas and tea. These are diuretics and will worsen your condition.
As far as what to eat, I would keep it light and bland so as not to irritate your stomache and bowel further. Toast, crackers, etc.
Hope you feel better soon.

Its called the BRAT diet. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce and Toast. It will help firm up the stool and it should help ease a stomach ache if you have that as well. Also be sure to drink plenty of fluids so that you don't get dehydrated during this!

A doctor told me this and I found it very helpful.
Using a REAL SILVER spoon, scrape an apple and eat it as you scrape it. My little four year old had been in the hospital for diarrhea and they couldn't stop it. Then I was told this on the first day we had him home and VOILA!! ...no more problem!

Lots of liquid - thin soup / broth.
Water containing electrolyte salts or if you cant get that use 2 teaspoons sugar and half teaspoon salt in one glass of water. This is to prevent dehydration.
overboiled rice with mashed potatoes eaten in moderation can also help .

Lots of liquids and soft foods. It depends on what the cause of diarrhea is. If is from an infection, then most of the agents will not help you get better.
