My husband co-worker dropped a menthol (I think it was called) in a bottle of diet coke and it exploded!
This the the first time I have heard of this!

it's not menthol it Mentos.

It is mentos, and it has been all over the web for about a year now. Go to either youtube or google videos and type Coke bottle rocket. It was also on that show mythbusters.

Oh yeah, the diet coke and mento thing. LOL, I love that experiment! Im still trying to figure out how this little candy can make such a huge explosion! Im guessing it has something to do with the outter candy shell of it, some sort of chemical reaction with the carbon monoxide bubbles.

They did that experiment on MythBusters several weeks ago and debunked it.
The only time I have ever seen or experienced exploding soda is if the can or bottle has been shaken and then opened immediately afterwards.
