I had a cracked tooth once, and I went through a filling first (will no relief), then a root canal (with no relief again), and finally I told my dentist to just pull the tooth (because I couldn't take the pain anymore). If you haven't felt any better results by Monday go back again, or seek another dentist. I was told that once you have a cracked tooth, there's basically nothing they can do for it. Have it pulled--if it's in an unnoticeable area (mine was the very back tooth), before you go through all of the pain and expense I did.

Your teeth'll take a while to settle down after being filled. They're more sensitive for a couple of weeks, depending on how deep the filling was.

Try using a little clove oil (a natural dental anaesthetic) on it in the short term while they settle back to normal. They do shift a tiny bit too, when the amalgam is put in and they'll need time to adjust to that.

Long term, use a fluoride mouthwash or gel to help remineralise the enamel and block off the tiny tubules which form in the teeth as a result of general wear and tear.

Good luck!

Going to a dentist would only ruin your teeth. I had a tooth filling 25 years ago and it is the only tooth that broke into small & small pieces and left a big gap in my left lower jaw. This gap is getting filled with food particles and used to give me frequent pain. Therefore I resisted going back to dentist and started using Ayurvedic tooth powder and all the problems got solved. Today I am using the VICCO Laboratories Vajrdhanti tooth paste and I am problem free for the past 15 years using the same.

all it is, is that your root nerves in your tooth are close to the filling so it is v sensitive your dentist is right it shall calm down over the next week, but if it is still bad after another week i would go back and tell them good luck, try using a sensitive tooth paste

I am not meaning to scare you - BUT - i had a filling once and it took about 3months to settle down

I have had others - and it didn't take more than a few weeks!

My advice, eat soft food (no hard sweets and things) and no ice cream or anything too cold for a little while

If it pesists - try using a sensitive toothpaste for a while

It will take a while to settle down. I have sensitive teeth at times, and I can really recommend the sensitive toothpastes eg. Sensodyne! They really really work! Try it!

I'm not sure I agree. He wouldn't want to admit it if he's scr**ed up so you might want to ask someone professionally qualified. It could be a small infection requiring anti-bios but if he's not going to tell you, who is.

I shall be watching your answers like a hawk cos i got a problem looming on the horizon.
