I think it's a humorous thought - but not really true.
Most women expect their men to be successful, it's more of a shock and disappointment when their man let's them down. When a man is truly selfish or sneaky, it shocks women because we expect honesty and faithfulness (i know high expectations).
I think women will quite readily believe that men are set for success, in the same way that all women deep inside believe in 'Knights in Shining Armour'. Fairytale stuff. We are astonished when it's not true because we get so emotionally involved in romantic thinking, which involves valour and affection.
These attributes are not always reality - so we can be astonished. But I would say we are rarely astonished to see a man succeed in his career or personal life.

TRUE i think bc i help my man achieve the dreams he wanted to i help him get the courage he needed to prersue those dreams when every one was telling him he could nt do this he couldnt do that i was standing there saying yes you can go for it and when he did it he succeded and showed everyone that he could do it. IN some cases i think it is true.

from my personal experience, if a person has to bring the gender issue into a situation they are normally trying to hide some other flaw

no longer heard that till now would not have my ex mom in regulation stood in the back of me susceptible to get a knife in my back. i became going to assert somebody who's jealous of your fulfillment as this is probably real.
