Good Day Mohammad,

There are several ways to do something like this. The easiest of the scientific methods (which would be the fairest to all the students) is to use descriptive statistics to raise the bell curve to the desired level.

Here is how it's done:

Make a histogram of all the scores - you list the raw scores on a straight line and then pile the number of student scores that correspond to the matching number above the line. You now have a picture of the range of scores - this is called the histogram.

Now, identify the middle score and the average score. (There are a lot of other calculations you could do, but they are not needed for this). The distance between these two numbers give you an indication of how different the scores are from each other.

Look back at your past exams with this or other classes that you have taught. What was the average or score range that you like to see?

Subtract the current average from this most recent exam from that of you historical records. This is the overall level of difficulty that you had in creating this exam.

Now add the difference to each of the current exam scores. This becomes your curve factor and is considered a normalization value for this exam.

Anytime you give a difficult exam, you can check the scores using this method to see just how hard it really is.

Good Luck.

Just give the highest score a 100 and then raise the other scores by the same amount. eg, if the highest score is a 75, then they would get 100 (+25 pts), and someone with a 50 would get a 75.

Use the point slope method.
