distancetravelled by the bird=2000m
time taken=187 1/2 sec
=375/2 sec
speed is in the ratio of 1:2
dividing the time in the ratio of 1:2
time to=375/2(2/3)=125 sec
speed=distane/time=1000/125=8 m/sec
speed in thefro direction=16m/sec
check
1000/8+1000/16=3000/16
=187.5 sec checks

If the bird flies at 10m/s, then the bird will be flying at the same speed as the moving machine in one direction, that is not moving, and twice the speed as the moving machine in the other direction, with respect to the machine. This implies the bird has to be traveling greater then 10m/s in one direction. Assuming the bird flies at constant speed back and forth with respect to the ground then:

Since one speed is double the other:
Birds' flying time forward = ½ t
Birds' flying time back = t
Total flying time = ½ t + t
Total flying time = 3/2 t = 187∙5 sec.
t = (2/3)187∙5 sec.
t = 125 sec.

Forward speed (x) = Distance / time - 10m/s.
Forward speed (x) = [1000 / ½(125)] - 10m/s.
Forward speed (x) = 16m/s - 10m/s.
Forward speed (x) = 6 m/s.

Return speed (2x) = Distance / time + 10m/s.
Return speed (2x) = [1000 / 125] + 10m/s.
Return speed (2x) = 8m/s + 10m/s.
Return speed (2x) = 18 m/s.

Since x represents the speed of the bird with respect to the machine, these speed values represent the speed of the bird with respect to the moving machine.

let t be the time taken by the bird to fly from engine to end..

time taken by the bird to fly from end to engine 187.5 - t

distance traveled by the bird

1000 - 10t = xt
1000 + 10(187.5 - t) = 2xt

x = 8.728
2x = 17.456
