You can't make a guy act as a good father, even if you get a DNA test. Child support sounds great (who doesn't need economic help), but it comes with strings, such as visitation. Do you really want your precious two-year-old spending time with someone who is totally uninterested in her existence? Do you want this guy causing trouble for you for the next sixteen years, meddling in your life? I'm telling you this as a mother who lost custody to an abusive father who didn't want to pay child support. GO IT ALONE! You'll be better off, even if you have to clip a few coupons.

Of course you can. It's completely legal to get a lawyer(if you do not have any money for one;( which Im sure you dont; being a single mother and all); then get a court appointed one(who cares how good lawyer is)the courts will force the men 2 take paternity tests. The father will also be court-ordered 2 pay child support. BUT what I would suggest(prefer) you do is Call MAURY! Heck yah girl....you know he'll put those boys in line. You will not have to pay for these paternity tests, either-- plus you'll get to be on MAURY! Hey!!!...are any of these guys family members? If so...go on JERRY SPRINGER!! Regardless of your chosen decison ....Oh my goodness...I just submitted my answer and read "Beth M's answer" and I am ashamed of HER. That is 100% B***H right there! Do NOT let her perfect BS acting response with uncalled for rudeness, make you give up...because although I was married when I had my son...my ex and I divorced 3 yrs later because turns out he couldnt keep it in his pants....and although he was court ordered to pay it...he quit his 125 a day job(cuz he knew he'd be ordered to pay child support) and then immediately after our divorce he went back to that job asked for it back and got it. When Id threaten to take him back to court ...hed say he'll just quit. SO that itch w/ a B can just
keep her rude thoughts 2 herself cuz although I have never slept around....I'm not perfect(didnt think anyone was?) so therefore I wont judge you..If I hated u for sleeping around; I would have 2 hate just about everyone, because unfortunately most people do...whether theyre single or not. Good Luck with your chosen decision girl...but make sure u find your daughters father. And hopefully he will chose to be a father instead of just a sperm donor...either way he's still going to have to help support her.

I hope you've got some money to spend, because paternity tests WITH the father's consent is not cheap and without it, the legal fees could be exorbitant. Why don't you save yourself a lot of misery and go get an education and find a nice guy who wants to be a husband and father for your daughter and live happily, ever after...you aren't going to improve your own outlook by supporting and/or strengthening your bitter, aging vendetta against a few guys with whom YOU helped create the problem you find yourself in. Not to mention what it's going to do to your daughter when she finds out how you had to go about it. Let her delve into it when she's old enough to want to know...but, then: she's going to find out what Mommy was like before she was born!

Easy. File claims for child care against any two of them. They'll have to have paternity tests done if they want to prove they're not the father. Either one of those tests may come up positive; if neither comes up positive, then the father is the third guy who wasn't tested.

Oh, and please do the world a favour and use some of the money to get your tubes tied. Thanks.

Go on Jerry Springer and then you get DNA for free. Or watch and episode of CSI and learn how to collect DNA from glasses and stuff.

Sorry im joking about this. I really dont know wat u can do, i guess you could ask a citzens advice not sure how helpful they would be. If not a lawyer....

it is sad that none of them want anything to do with your daughter. I can understand them not wanting anything to do with u but she is an innocent. Hopefully they will change their minds at some point. Surely as she grows up she will start to look like her dad and then u may be able to persuade him to take a test for her sake

I think you need to speak to a solicitor or perhaps the CAB for advice. Does that mean none of them are paying you maintenance for her? If one is her Dad they should be paying. Hope you get this sorted. Next time I guess just keep to one man at a time for ease of reference if required at a later date!

Nope, you can't even "force" them to take the tests.
Think about it from the guy's point of view - "I think you may be the father but I was shagging two other blokes at the same time".
Get real, he'll always carry some resentment about that, and may blame the child - move on (with your legs tightly shut)

Good answer from Silverside. You have managed for two years already, financially, emotionally and generally- it may be better to carry on alone. Once you discover who the father is, and if he is contributing to your daughter's upkeep, he will no doubt get involved in her life and yours and you may not like his input.

You can file for child support.........the "father" will have the option of just paying the support or have a DNA test done.
