Many more than 24. The Microsoft Windows clock lists 75.

You must consider that some countries observe solar time. Some countries have time zones that are 30 minutes or even 15 minutes off of the rest of the world's hours. The southern hemisphere observes "daylight savings" or "summer" time during different months than the northern hemisphere.

There are 25 time zones. The zone that straddles the International Date Line is divided in half: +12 and -12 hours from GMT.

The fact that some countries observe odd time shifts (central Australia, for example, shifts 1 1/2 hours from the east coast) does not imply that there are more than 25 zones.

33. Read it and weep. There's not only the 24/5 hour zones, but several countries have half hour or quarter hour zones as well.
