Why do african americans get angry when other people say it but are totally fine with it if an african american is saying it?
Is it right to tell people to stop using a word when some african americans use it so liberally? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?
If they want people to stop saying it then they should stop saying it as well because when they say it, it just makes other people think it's ok to use that word

you can call yourself something but you get offended when someone else uses the same words/insults

This is a question most non-blacks have. Also I am wondering why it is OK for Blacks to denigrate whites and hispanics with carte blanche?

Its like the pendulum swung the other way and whites have no more civil rights than blacks did in the last century. This is the time of the black male and quickly becoming the time of the sleek black female.

Meanwhile, cities are teaming with crime and blacks are clogging up the justice system. This isn't what MLK had in mind I am sure and does an injustice to a true hero of the twentienth century.

This is because usually when someone calls them the "N" word it is in a derogatory manner. BUT amongst themselves it is just another word. They are using it as a greeting as some people would meet or come across a friend and greet them saying Hey, whats up Homey.

The word in it's self is degrading, for that matter any name calling is degrading. I'm sure if the African American peoples really thought about what they were calling each other, they would stop.
I'm not black, yet when someone calls me the nasty "N" word, it sends fire through my veins.
Hope this helps.

"Other" folks clearly know it is offensive when they use it. They intend for it to be. Some blacks are offended when other blacks use the word. Maybe whites should show outrage when they hear a black person call another black person a N word. Bottom line is there are alot of white people who are appalled when they hear other white people say it. I've seen them make a bigger stink then some black folks. My advice, whites folks, be careful when you call someone black a n.i.g.g.e.r. You may lose your livelihood.

I agree, everybody should stop saying it and let it die, and there is an organization of black Americans who want it abolished.

I'll just say this, depending on who my ancesters were I would not call myself ****, slant eyes, whap, beaner, kike etc. I'm not sure I know the answer but I'm pretty sure you came close to it yourself.

Because blacks don't have a history of using the word to denigrate other blacks.

Simply put...When they call each other the N word it's like calling your sister a retard. It's okay for you to do, but no one else.
