I'm crap at maths because I'm numerically dyslexic (I think it's called dyscalcula), so i see numbers jumbled up and have no concept of mental arithmetics. It's not for want of trying! I tried 3 times to get my CSE (it was a long time ago) and got a grade 2 each time. One of the hardest days of my life was when I had to do a numeracy test in order to do teacher training - I just scraped through - after weeks of revision and testing myself. If I can do it, so can you!

It could be that like most people you dislike the dry-as-dust approach used in textbooks and need to read Maths not step-by-step (not knowing where you are being led) but how maths developed throughout history.
Buy "Mathematics for the Million" by Lancelot Hogben. This classic, first published in 1936, is still available on Amazon and was praised byboth HG Wells and Albert Einstein. It introduces mathematics in a conversational style, and takes you through a process of learning about mathematics based on how everyday problems were solved by the people such as the Greeks and Egyptians, through to calculus by Newton and logarithms by Napier. The author doesn't just show the maths they produced but why they needed to develop the new ideas. The book could take you up to University entrance level, and actually enjoy the journey.

Some unis in Australia offer maths classes. You could try private tutoring to catch up on maths skills.

It all depends on the type of thinking style you have. If you are not a logical person you will find it difficult to see patterns in numbers and the reasons behind sums and equations.
First try to change the way you look at maths, make sure you completely understand each step that is taken in a sum to get the answer.....don't memorize methods, learn to understand them.
It's all about the understanding, you can do it, your brain has the capacity you just need to concentrate, try to relax and look at it as problem solving and a bit more fun.

Could be a habit you have got into. Somewhere along the line you've had a crap teacher or hit a difficult bit and from then on every time you think 'maths' your brain says 'piss off I'm busy'. Sign up for evening classes where they will treat you like an adult and all that baggage will be left behind.

Relax, take a deep breath. Look, the answer to your problem is actually pretty simple. You may think you need some expensive tutor or program to help you get good in math, but that's not right. I have a quick easy solution that has helped many others before you. Take a 9mm handgun to your mouth and fire. Watch as you enter Hell, all the secrets of life with not be revealed.

organise to get a tutor...not everyone is good at math naturally (because we are all made differently with different talents and skills) so you are going to have to just work at it...ask for extra help and study study study
