No more than 20% of training should be talking by the HR manager. Generally, the greatest problems are on the HR manager's side. The second issue is breaking the ice, training should almost always be playful. Serious training stands a large chance to be boring and therefore not take to any level. Finally, training cannot be generic it must fit the people in their circumstances. It must be adapted to their specific roles. This requires the HR manager really understand what they are doing.

Assuming you do not have people with psychological problems, most trainer's problems stem from failing to do any of the above. If you do have people with psychological problems and you are aware ahead of time, it is best to prepare for the type of acting out they do. It is rare, however, to encounter that particular type of person in a training where they become a behavioral problem.

Finally, you really need to know your material and how it will be used in the field. In a way, you need to understand every role in the company at a minimum level.
