I'm sorry i don't remember too much about it. i watched it in 1999 on video. it was set maybe late 80's early 90's. it's a war movie and one scene a man is locked away in a room where there is heaps of mobile/cell phones in a box and he goes through them until one works.

Three Kings - the guy in the room was Mark Wahlberg, and he was put there by the Iraquis, and he called his girlfriend on the mobile phone :)

A fine movie indeed. Called: Three Kings. Mark Wahlberg was the guy and he was locked up by terrorists. He eventually did manage to phone his wife.
This is also the first time I know the answer to a "name this movie" Q so thanks for making it easy on me!!

yeah, def. Three Kings. the one i saw had ice cube in it and the guy calls his wife at home and she's all talking about irrelevant stuff and that baby's in the background, then the Iraqi's come in and slap the crap outta him for using the phone. i own it.
