i want to broadcast music from my bed room to mates a few streets away. i know its possible to plug in an ipod thingy, but they dont get a decent signal with it. is it possible to boost the signal using a cb burner or some sort of amp?

This is illegal, which is why the ipod FM device doesn't transmit too far. You could purchase a transmitter that is ore powerful or amplify the one you have got but if the authorities find out you will get it all confiscated and a large fine.

Re the 'I pod thingy's mentioned above, yesterday it was announced that they will be legal for use in the uk from Dec. 8 as long as they comply with the spec. Belkin call theirs the 'Tunecast II' there are loads of cheapo copies.

It's certainly possible, but it's probably illegal. It's probably a lot cheaper to just buy ipods for your mates, or let the cheapskates buy their own.

It is highly illegal - even the "iPod thingy" even although available in the UK, is illegal.
