My home is 40yrs old,re-wired by mother-in-law more than 10 yrs ago and we upgraded breakers a few months ago, which alleviated the situation quite alot, until this week. Here in Trinidad we use 110v and 220v.What can I do until we can afford to re-wire the entire house?

Thank you

The local utility co. must provide power at the nominal voltages you mentioned , plus or or minus a few V.
They should be able to give you a history of fluctuations in your area.
If you can DIY , check the voltage at the service inlet (line side of breakers)
If you measure fluctuations there , It is on the power company side.
If Voltage is steady on line side, check load side of each breaker individually & see if you get fluctuations.
If it is steady there ,check your outlets individually.
See if the power company will do a survey for you.
Good luck
To be safe, best to have an electrician chase down the problem in the house if power company is not the source.
Good luck.
Bet its the power company.

You shouldn't have to rewire, there's something funny going on all right. It shouldn't fluctuate. have you considered the box on the pole by your house. You said you did a lot of rewiring? right? so, did you ever change anything there, or, you know that has to be considered. It carries the power for either 110 power or 240 power so ? what have you done to alleviate that? anything ? call the power company.

Check the g round wires to make sure they are tight coming from the main breaker. A loos ground will drop heat like a jig saw puzzle.
