As I waited on the platform this morning, for my train to arrive, I saw the new Wembley stadium in the distance through the cold mist and beyond that I could see the old London Telecom Tower. I felt a warm tinggle inside as I thought how nice London really is. Then when I arrived at work I saw the Gherkin building.

So I wondered if anyone else sees any other famous landmarks everyday, and perhaps takes them for granted. It's easily done!

Sitting on my front porch I can see a house that Jesse James once spent the night in.

I live in what was part of the (Indian) Trail of Tears.

In driving to work, I daily pass through an F4 tornado devestitated area. And have watched the people rebuild and salvage what could be salvaged.

And you are correct that we do take the history of our surroundings for granted.

I used to drive past "Stonehenge" at least twice a day and was absolutely disgusted by the way tourists etc are treated. Scaby toilets ---a shack of a souvenier shop -- a car park that insult a bomb site --and now the government want to spend millions of OUR lottery money on a Tunnel to --as they say preserve its foundations --or could it be --- stopping the holiday makers on their way to Devon/ Cornwall having a "free view" of the monsrosity

On my walk to the station from the top of gipsy hill I also get a view of the gherkin building. But on the train I get to go past the great battersea power station. I don't know why but whenever I go past it, it always seems to bring a smile to my face.
