Present. I believe you have just described every pragmatist ever born. they are cynical in there aapproach to solutions and yet optomistic that a solution does in fact exist to all problems. That is is just how they avoid making mistakes and increase their efficiency.

Absolutely-you can have faith in one thing and be cynical about another or even be cynical and have faith in the same thing at the same time! It's not only possible, it happens all the time!

yes its possible. at least i think it is. Because I believe...but at the same time I question. For example after reading arguments against the existence of God I still pray to him. I agree with the atheists in many ways....but at the same time I still believe in a God who loves me. Why???hmmm....

Because i dont think I lose anything in believing....really..
when I compare my life with belief and my life w/o it....
the latter is no better. So I took the risk, what I can I lose in praying, believing, anyways?

I dont really lose anything when I believe that I have when I dont.
I believe in God and that gives purpose to my life & hope.

But I still question. I still dont understand a lot of things, & I still doubt, so I am a cynical believer.

If the atheists are right then I lose a friend, God. But i think its almost the same anyway. Because when you say you believe but you dont act on your faith, then what's the use really??? you continue hating others, or killing or stealing or being sexually immoral...even though your a self-proclaimed believer.

SO yeah, its possible to have faith & doubt at the same time. I mean what's the mind for, if not to make sense of things, question, think!

But faith can do what doubt cannot do....make you available...
make you open..........to the supernatural....

but if you're content with the earthly, then why question for?
I mean whats to be so cynical about?

if God is there, then its right to believe in him, and i think healthy to spend some of our time questioning him.
if He is not....then we are all fools for spending most of our time alive here on earth trying to reach him, arguing against him, proving he is real or he is not real..

Certainly. Unless you are being cynical about faith....then you have a problem.

Of course. I don't think the two are related at all. Why question whether someone has faith in a higher power, just because they feel their fellow man is driven by selfishness?
