A great, sublime question cutting right through the current psyche of the Filipino people. A sad question as well.

No - would be a practical answer. Yes, because it sounds noble and answering on the internet wont kill you, and the anonimity takes away the responsibility.

But yes is the only answer that will give the Philippines the hope. No more matter how hypocrital it may sound and feel. I would rather be a hypocrite and carry this little gleam of hope in my heart and my mind, than give up on my country.

Of course, at this moment, I have no idea how to die for it. And as someone had pointed out, living right, not dying, is the way to go about it.

But, again, its all just words on the internet. That's the rub.

dying for your country or your countrymen might seem as a total waste. one, because we're a free country now; and two, because that one life could have done so much more alive. but sometimes, it's the only way to open up the eyes of the people, like when ninoy aquino and jose rizal died. the filipinos are sitll worth dying for, but there has to be an actual reason to why you're dying for them.

Most of these replies sadden me. It supports what I already believed a lot if not most of the people of the Philippines have lost hope that change is possible. The Philippines has been blessed by God with much to be willing to fight and die for. It appears that the culture of corruption may have won. A soceity in order to prosper must be ruled by laws and those laws must be obeyed rather they are liked or not. Going to streets are not the solution to the problems in the Philippines. Change will only come when the people organize and control the electorate not the streets. The "Opposition of the moment" regardless who they are have played upon the emotions of the people and led them to the streets far too many times. It is time for the people of the Philippines to be led by their powerful minds and not their emotions. What can the people of the Philippines expect from their politicians when they continue to elect and promote politicians they know are corrupt. Run out and buy one of Imelda's new creations and make her, her children and grandchildren richer. If you cannot afford that elect her mayor of Manila or perhaps you prefer her grandson. You elected her governor after she took billions from you and your people. You can always return her daughter to congress. In my opinion if anyone, friend or family, continues to live off the spoils illegally gotten they are as guilty as the ones that took it. I hate to be nasty but if you continue to do the same thing over and over in hopes you will get a different results you are foolish.

Yes, but I would rather LIVE for my fellow Filipinos. So many have died for this nation already, and we're still not prosperous nor peaceful.

Too many dire and "BIG" movements have not resulted in much change, because we haven't solved the underlying problems that plague our nation, our patronage politics, our focus on prestige and star-quality rather than humble service and committed solidarity, our individualistic dreams and ambitions that can be reduced to merely earning a living and substisting and procreating, our political and social divisiveness...

We should be heroes in our own fields, and in our own "little" ways, learning, moving, and caring (sometimes with the opportunity, to contribute BIG things), so that, with gradual changes that don't necessarily mean having to die for anything, we might eventually reach our dream of national development and integration.

i think in specific circumstances we don't choose a reason. in case you like your u . s . a ., in case you like the human beings and each little thing approximately it unconditionally, then you actual can actual say they're properly worth dying for. yet once I could provide any reason, then i could say, this u . s . a . is obviously alluring. i'm in basic terms happy with being born and raised right here. Any undesirable issues we've had right this moment are outcomes of poverty.. or maybe the shortcoming of self-discipline of human beings themselves. yet permit's particularly no longer positioned blames on something. If in basic terms we've had a greater secured destiny, then we probable might have had greater appropriate opportunities to maximise our potentials.

No. I dont think so. Before maybe, because our country was very much oppresses and exploited. It's like Filipinos needed to be "saved".But now...we are a free country. I cant see too many patriots anywhere, maybe they are abroad?

I mean, why die for the Filipino?
they think for themselves now.
It would be better to live.
