I think it depends on how well you know the person and also your relationship with them!!
It's also a good idea to 'ask' what they prefer to be called!!!

Using a person's nickname denotes a degree of mutually agreed familiarity, so if that type of relationship doesn't exist, then a nickname should not be used without permission.

if the nickname is centred on some form of disability or malformation then it is very wrong to call someone a descripive nickname, if the name is harmless and the person is not offended by it then that is alright.

If they are a good friend and it's not rude why not. If you are work colleagues and that's how you speak to each other too - yes - why not?
