I think that there are people out there who take great advantage of the system. they go job hunting once a week so they can make the counties happy and that prevents familys who really need a little help from getting it. even working families who are in a little bit of trouble and cant get emergency assistance because of the peopl who are milking it. I think working people should get help too if they need it but only for like a month. after all they work hard and do pay taxes to suport these programs. now people that cant work....thats a different story.

Since Bill Clinton instituted welfare reform there have been time limits and work requirements for welfare. But, we've got to find someone to hate, so let's take the poorest, disabled, women and children and throw them to the wolves. The problem is not welfare, we have always been a country that cares for it's less fortunate citizens; the problem lies with bureaucrats who do not do their job, and politicians who do not provide the means to hire competent caseworkers to police the system. Workfare has done an excellent job, but there are mothers who do not have adequate daycare to keep them working. Many other countries have systems that work well, all you have to do is copy them.

It should have a time limit and i think it does. People who are healthy and able to work should be encouraged to work. Having one kid after another....their choice, but not an excuse! Disability and other issues, yes we should help. Mostly we should be helping each other out. Unfortunately, people who abuse the system spoil it for everyone else. The idea is good but not applied properly.

The problem is that there are people that are unable to work and cannot qualify for any other form of assistance. I for one am tireof seeing people that NEED help punished because of the abuses of others. People that have done NOTHING wrong should NOT be punished for the actions of others.

ratting out your own family is never good! However, yes we need time limits, and helping hands not hand outs, make them work some minial labor for their check, pretty soon they'll get off the systems handout, and actually do something for their living

THIS IS TO ME A TWO SIDED QUESTION. ONE ONE HAND I AGREE WITH YOU ALL THE WAY. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND MY GIRLFRIEND HAS 5 KIDS WITH THE DAD NOT PAYING A DIME (ALL FIVE SAME DAD) BUT SHE WAS BORN WITH HEALTH PROBLEMS THAT STILL PLAGUE HER TODAY FOR INSTANCE SHE HAS A TRAKE IN HER THROAT THAT SHE HAS HAD SINCE BIRTH JUST TO NAME ONE AND GETS SSI BECAUSE SHE CANT WORK. SSI ONLY GIVES HER AROUND 600.00 A MONTH WITH A CHILD CREDIT OF 10.00 A KID SO WITH A WOPPING 650.00 A MONTH SHE WOULD HAVE TO RAISE 5 KIDS AND HERSELF. THE WELFARE GIVES HER JUST ENOUGH TO BREAK EVEN. PLUS ONE CHILD IS SCITZOPHRENIC AND TWO ARE BIPOLAR SO SHE HAS HER WORK CUT OUT FOR HER. HOW SHE MANAGES ILL NEVER KNOW BUT SHE KNOWS THAT IVE GOT HER BACK!!!

Make them work for their money. You babysit for a working mother if you can't go out. ALL welfare recipients should have to earn their keep, somehow! A free ride only makes you subservient.
