♥I think it was something about people helping people to learn things. Maybe yahoo meant that in only a book smarts sense, but I have learned things in many other ways as well. How about you?

Because it really is easy to go to the library, or to use Wiki, or to ask someone you know in real life, am I correct?

The point was to help others with answers to questions where the answers may not be in books or may be expensive to learn on your own. I have learned alot about others from what they ask. For example i have learned that there have got to be some professional surveyors on line trying to use this forum for their work. I have also learned that some people are only in it to chat. What's more some are in it to ensnare others into doing ofr saying things they would not otherwise have done or said. So, yes i have learned a lot sociologically speaking.

I do not believe it turned out quite the way Yahoo intended.

I believe they intended it as a place where people could ask serious questions and receive serious answers.

But they apparently didn't count on the incalculable number of children who discovered it and made it into their own nasty little playground (when they should be in bed, or in school, or - in some cases - locked up in a cage).

But i have learned that if you can filter out the dreck you can actually find some worthy and interesting people. And there are *tons* of things you can learn from people like that.

I have met some really nice people here. You are one of them.

And if Yahoo could find a way to get rid of the children - and others who have no place in a forum meant for intelligent discourse - then this place might still have a chance to accomplish something *useful*.

Learning new things is wonderful, but there is much more to life than just "book smarts". I think we learn new things everyday until the day we die.

I have learned much from Y!A. But more from the people I know, and keep in touch with, than from the Q&A forum itself.

I thought the point of this forum, and the internet in general, was to insult others anonymously.
