I am going to buy my wife some perfume for xmas.
I will be looking for something that is very nice but not necessarily the most popular.
We do not go out a lot as we have children but i want something so when she does go out it will make her feel special or give her a lift so she can enjoy herself.

Go for Jean Paul Gaultier. It comes in a tin like a bit bigger that a tin of baked beans, but when she opens the tin the perfume is in the shape of a womans body, that would be a nice surprise.
The perfume is classy, everytime i am wearing it someone always comments, and the good thing about it is it lasts a long time, i have had so many perfumes lacoste touch of pink, hugo deep red etc etc... that are beautiful, but i tend to go through them quickly cause the scent never lasts for long so i have to keep topping up.
I think she would really apreciate the original jean paul gaultier than comes in a metal tin.

I feel I can answer this question quite well as I was only just in a department store the other day buying perfumes as christmas presents myself, its safe to say I smelt a lot of different perfumes!

There was a perfume by GIVENCHY (is that how you spell it?!) that came in a black bottle & was absolutely divine. It was such a timeless fragrance, not too strong but not too weak, with slight musky tones to it. The assistant put some of the matching scented body lotion on my arm & then sprayed the perfume over the top & it smelled even better. The amazing thing was, the next morning before my shower I actually caught a whiff of the perfume as it had stayed on my arm that long. I was so surprised but it goes to show that its a very good perfume. If you buying that one I'd suggest buying as a gift set with the body lotion, then the gift would be extra special & the perfume lasts longer.

Surprisingly the JENNIFER LOPEZ perfumes smelled lovely too. There's varying fruity perfumes that aren't cheap smelling like I thought they'd be (unlike the Paris Hilton brand I happened to smell, yuck!), and they came in such pretty bottles, perfect for a special present. I eventually chose the apple-y fragranced one, I think it was called Live Luxe. These I noticed could also be bought as part of a set with the body lotion.

The last one I thought was a lovely perfume was Gucci's GHOST in the tall, thin bottle. Its hard to describe what this one smells like but to me its the sort of perfume I'd choose to wear when going somewhere special as its a fragrance that will be noticed on you but won't knock people out! The bottle for this one is a little more understated & looks a little bit more classy than the rest & also comes with the body lotion gift set if thats what you decide.

If you still can't decide I suggest you do what I did & go into the perfume section of the department store & ask the assistants. You probably will get bombarded with sales patter but as long as you keep your head & choose a fragrance you think is suitable for your wife, you won't come back disappointed.

Hope that helps!

It would depend on how much you wish to spend and be careful because perfume is a very personal thing. If I were you I would see what she is using now and get her a gift package with everything in it...talc, bubble bath, lotion, soap, body spray and perfume. If you want some ideas on nice perfumes then Shalimar is lovely. Also Beautiful and White Linen or Chanel #5 or Unforgettable. And please take her out somewhere special so that she can wear it. That will be the best gift of all.

first of all you sound like such a lovely husband! I really like the Britney Spears perfume (dont be put off by the name!!) It is lovely and refreshing. My two favourite perfums are Romance by Ralph Lauren and CK1. They vary in prices but nothing astronomical. Oh also you have got to have a smell of the perfume Noah Or Noa. It is probably the cheaper of all the above but most definitly the nicest. She will love it. I promise! Good luck in your search.

Take her with you go out and do some Christmas shopping to gather, go for lunch . its because ever ones body smell is different and perfume needs some time to settle on the body before the real smell shows. and what may smell good on the shop assistant may not smell good on your wife. You could always buy her some thing extra as a surprise listen for her hinting we girls do it all the time its just that you guys never listen.

Go to a perfume counter in a large store and look helpless. The nice lady will advise you on perfumes that will suit your wife's age and skin chemistry. Plus she will let you smell some samples to see what you like.

You can't go wrong with any of the Hugo Boss range - especially Hugo Boss Intense. Everyone comments on this and asks what your wearing when you wear this one. I love perfume and have tried many, by far, this is my favourite. Sure your wife would love this one. The box and bottle looks nice aswell, and isnt that expensive.

It's called Hugo Boss Intense.

LaCoste Pink is very nice flowery fragrance or Tommy Girl is a cheapy fresh one. Also like D&G but that's quite strong.

You could go into Boots or the largers dept stores and ask them to spray a few on a card for you and see which ones your children prefer.

The best thing to do is maybe take her with you and let her try it on,diffrent perfumes smell totally diffrent on each person. so something that smells good on the store clerk might not smell good on her. Id rather pick out my own that way you'll know for sure it will be special.
