Stain has been on the carpet for a couple of months. Kids hid it from me with a box. I'm sure it's red soft drink. I've tried: white vinegar, carb soda, metho, eucalyptus oil, and ordinary wash up detergent. Nudder, none have even faded it.

This type of stain is one of the hardest to get out the carpet.
I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot almost boiling water (from a kettle) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time, (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet).
If the stain is still visible than try putting Dawn dishwashing liquid (4 or 5 drops into one cup of water) or carpet spotter. Dampen the spot letting it soak on the stain for about 5 minutes and repeat step one. After this you should rinse the area again with the wet vac and hot water. If this doesn’t work try using orange glo or even 409. The most important thing to do is rinse the stain with a wet vac and hot water from a kettle to remove all the reside, or the spot may come back.

Please be careful with what product you uses (neutral PH carpet cleaning solution is best). Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet.

I have two kids and a husband who are notorious for spilling things on our light colored carpet. This is how I get EVERYTHING out:
--Mix one part ammonia to three parts warm water and spray on stain
--Scrub stain with an old toothbrush in small, circular motion. Stain will spread--do not panic!
-- Cover stain with a clean white towel
--With iron on steam setting, iron the towel

You may have to do this whole process a few times, but it will get the stain out. It's basically a color transfer.

NOTE: If you have a darker colored carpet, you might want to try this in an inconspicuous area first. I don't know what the ammonia would do to the color!

I have had the greatest luck in removing stains like that with OxyClean. I mix it in a spray bottle with water as the directions say and spray it all over, then wait, and re-apply if necessary.
