In the past with game systems, especially the Playstation (PSX or whatever it's smaller name was), you had to have something installed and posibly programming installed for games from other countries/areas.

So I expect the same is still true for the PS2.

[ I think these were called Mods or it was called Modding. Which might just mean it's Modified or Modifications. Maybe that will help your search.]
