College is a time when people actively seek out new relationships. Unless you live in a box, making friends should not be a problem. Still, it requires effort and a willingness to extend yourself at times.
Instructions

* STEP 1: Be loquacious, gregarious, chatty, talkative, friendly, outgoing, amiable, congenial, neighborly, sociable, approachable, easygoing and otherwise chummy.
* STEP 2: Introduce yourself to those in your dorm and class.
* STEP 3: Show up early for orientation.
* STEP 4: Attend parties, sports events and special gatherings where people socialize.
* STEP 5: Remain open to new cultures, ideas and values.
* STEP 6: Invite people to join you for a bite to eat and a drink.
* STEP 7: Offer to give people a ride somewhere.
* STEP 8: Study in groups.
* STEP 9: Reach out to others when they need help.
* STEP 10: Join a student group or sports team.
* STEP 11: Explore the Greek system.
* STEP 12: Throw a party.

Tips & Warnings

* Give people a second chance if they make a bad first impression.
* Let people open up to you slowly. Make sure you are not forcing yourself upon someone.

Dear thakurlak...,
You have some very good answers already. I particularly like Anu's answer. I will add what I believe is the first step to well being in relationships with others.

First you must genuinely like yourself and treat yourself with respect. In order to sustain friendships and relationships you must treat others with respect also. If you don't treat yourself with respect and kindness what are your chances of treating others with respect? Slim I would say.

It's fairly easy to meet people just as Anu describes. And to maintain that acquaintance as a friend you must remember respect. Personality can open doors but it is your character that keeps them open.

Good luck, and be kind to yourself. This includes pursuing the things you are interested in. You will meet like minded people by doing this and will have a basis for building the relationships further.

Man there are few things all like..... your openness, way of thinking and how you carry your self.Because yes you can start with some one but that person have to decide taht whether he/she wants to be with you or not....so be good with sense of humour, dont try to show what you are not and carry your "self".
