I would definitely have them valued. They must be worth a bundle. Perhaps a nice family airlume to pass down to future generations? I certainly wouldn't sell them.

I'm a bookseller, though only of contemporary works and have no special expertise in this area.
What I can tell you is that if this books are indeed from the 16th century then they are most definately worth something. Condition is paramount so take great care of them. Books from this long ago are rare and can be extremely valuable.
My inclination would be to go straight to the top and contact the British Museum or British Library and ask them how best to proceed.
There are any number of antiquarian book shops out there and they will be more than happy to value the books for you. Though, of course, they will not give you the full value of the books so they can make their profit when they sell them on.
I wish you well with this.

Go to an expert or speak to a museum for advice. These are very rare books and will be valuable therefore it is worth putting in the effort to get the most out of them.

Contact a local auctioneers, look in the yellow pages. The major names are Bonhams or Carters or Phillips, but there are lots of other autioneers. They may point you in the direction of specialists that may get a better price for you.

I'm sure the museums or National Libraries would be interested in these books.

They are treasures at that age and should be preserved in the proper environment.
