i'd hope that either myself or someone in my genetic line can create something useful for the world i dunno like the wheel or the telephone!
but what's wrong with just leaving children? if no one had kids then the human race would become extinct pretty quickly!

I hope that by the time I leave this world my life will be remembered as someone who has always helped others. Wether this be to make an elderly persons life longer, better and happier. Whether it was helping a blind man across the road. Giving a few spare pence to a straving child. Taking in an abused animal are helping it see life isnt all bad. Helping others to overcome their troubles and problems.
When i die just leaving behind the memories of things ive done and am yet to do is enough for me

Samrth Ramdass, a saint from India in the middle ages, has already answered this question. He says ' You can die but stay behind in the form of your clean reputation.
You have rightly said that leaving behind a litter of children is not the best legacy you bequeath. But that is what most of them are after. The continuation of the genealogical line is more important for them. Hence the insistence for a male issue through whom alone the name will continue. People will go almost to any extent in its search secret rites, theft of recently delivered children and c.But with all these attempts none of the lines have come up to this day and if they had they are mere caricatures of their illustrous ancestors. It is said that the present incumbant of the illustrous Rana Pratap, who in his indefatigable war against Akbar, lived in forests with a stone for his headrest. The present incumbant of the house boasts that he can identify a prick at the bottom of a stack of mattress by just sleeping over it.Would not the soul of Ranajee be fidgetting when he heard this hollow boast. So mere lineal continuation does not necessarily serve any purpose and with instances like the one quoted above the ancestors would be hiding their faces from public gaze. The best you can do is to light a candle in the enveloping darkness so that a travelled who has missed his way in the jungle could come towards you folloinw the lighted candle.Perhaps that will inspire one more to light a candle and before long there would be so many candles that darkness would dispelled. As another Indian saint Dyneshwar says,"Light a cangle on another candle already lit and let the Don of love flow quitely

I dont know what i would leave for the world...but i sure hope that i leave the world a better place!! :-)
Even if it means helping an elderly person across the street, or making a crying baby smile...i know it sounds very cheesy, but i couldnt help it.....
Everyone has a special ability in them, and when people come to know about the ability, they put it to use, and improve other people's lives....if they misuse their talent however, Karma will take action...and theyll suffer threefold
Thats what i believe in

I leave the answer to this question for the world. Like a great mystery for humanity to ponder ever after. Generations later, people will still shake their heads and say, "I wonder what he meant by that?"
The world will always be able to rejoice in the Now.

I hope we do all leave children... since everything about us will fade away eventually, become folk law, be changed and changed again inside translation down the ages... but life, our actual existence, is exactly why we're here... all we can pass on... it's called 'procreation' and consists of 'consciousness' inside the human race... without which, the world would not exist for us to be remembered by!

the worse thing to do is leave nothing.... We have have a "talent" and a means of communicating our understanding; whether that be in the form of wisdom, or service.
I, therefore, hope to impart some means of wisdom, though I myself am not wise. I hope to leave a valuable piece of myself in the minds of others so as not to be forgotten with time......
Is it, I ask you, better to exist in mind than not?
your sister,
Ginger

I'm too insignificant to leave something for the world... nor would I want to...
I guess I would not mind dying an anonymous death as it would save friends and family from grief...
