Prayers may or may not be answered .... whenever they are answered, may well be coincidence. What we pray for may not be the real importance.

The importance of prayer arises primarily from its capability to restore some balance in our own disturbed mind. My experience is that whenever I am stressed by worries, a certain time spent in earnest prayers has somehow the power to get me back on my normal self even though the worry does not fully disappear. This to me is an indisputable advantage of earnest prayers in times of stress.

Perhaps what happens is that we bow down (I don't mean literally) to some superior power and that reduces the sense of ownership towards the problem that is vexing our mind.....in other words, we may be bringing the level of our ego down which reduces anxiety and brings a better balance of mind.

Prayer is extremely important to some and just as offensive to others.

In my experience, prayer is more of a spiritual collection and redirection of energy. This may be why prayer is said to heal some people.

Also, prayer can be a way to improve a person's emotional state thereby improving their health.

Prayers are important. How much important? Extremely.
God is like our father who takes care of us every moment.
We have many dreams and desires, when we pray we reveal them to God. Its very healthy because we think twice before asking for wong things from our parents.. so we think and we pray to our Heavenly father. We also come to know our wrong desires and try to overcome them.
Sometimes we pray for our friends, sick or poor people. This helps us become more compassionate.
So keep praying and try to develop a relation with your heavenly father...

Prayers are important because it freshens you up. You don't have to be a believer to pray. you can pray to YOURSELF. Its a kind of self-hypnotism.
