I think that this is an outdoor bonsia and should only be bought in doors for short periods at a time, the dry and constant heat will eventualy kill it " if its not allready dead" . take it out doors and place it in a sheltered place a cool green house or a place close to the house will do, as long as it dosnt get frozen, only water with rain water or tap water that has been stood for a couple of days
Hope it survives
GOOD LUCK

My tree lost all its leaves and seemed to be dying so I planted outside, left it for about six months and it was healthier than when I bought it. Remember there is no such thing as an indoor Bonsai, ALL trees live outside, but some tolerate being inside better than others. I would not have thought the mantelpiece was an ideal place to keep it. Also at this time of year central heating makes them thirsty. Hope this helps.

Ive always thought keeping bonsai trees is a very mean thing to do...i mean if I was a tree, i would like to be the tallest one in the forest/garden/park....
can you imagine how you would feel like, if someone kept you from growing tall by depriving you of the sources that you need to survive and grow?
All that said, i think its a matter of opinion...they do look beautiful, but at a very high cost....any way look on the internet for some help, just go to google.com and type in bonsai trees and maintenance

Do Not Water Anymore!!!!!!!
It is winter and evergreen also go into dormancy take it to a good nursery and ask if there are classes on pruning bonsai (if you are in northern hemisphere winter is the best time)or where you can find a bonsai society to show you how to prune your tree because it is root bound and needs nutrients they can show you what you need to do. In order to maintain your tree you need to prune the roots as well as the branches, have fun and good luck because it is an art

I would get some miracle grow and add a drop to room temperature water and water it, put it in a nice sunny window with other plants and give it a name and tell it to grow and make your place nice. Lots and lots of attention might bring it back...geez ten bucks!!! LOL
