They are still quite popular here in Australia but I'd like to know how great their fandom is in America.
If someone can provide me with information or statistics which tells me how many fans they have there (and other countries as well) that would be helpful.
And does anyone know why Paul Di'Anno left the band in the 80's?

Iron maiden if i can say is one of the most wellknown heavy metal band in the world, so i can say that if you are love metal band then you will love them as well. Iron maiden hail from england, they are the one who is spreading the new wave of heavy metal music to the world, which is famous as NWOBHM. Beside saxon or judaspriest or any other band, iron maiden try to spread their wings widely to the world with the help of their amazing producer Martin birch. This man that bring iron maiden to usa, as you know that beatles or led zeppelin can be reach the world after they are going to usa, so iron maiden also. Usa are the best country to spread the market to another level. Usa have everything to do that, from the high tech communication, high technology of recording and the best man to do the marketing. So after iron maiden have been signed with the major label, then they start to explode everything. Usa have a great system in distribution and advertising, so iron maiden can reach their famous in very short time.
I just know that unril now iron maiden almost sold over 70 million copies around the world.
Paul di'anno left the band cause he have a problem with his behaviour so the band replace him. He have a problem with cocaine usage.

Hail to you to know them. See the trooper.

in the states, if u ask any true metal fan what there favorite band is, maiden would have to be in the top five.they will always be well respected everywhere.

PS-Many people think Paul Di'Anno got booted from the band.i heard that bruce dickinson talked to the band about being their singer instead of paul and since the band felt bruce would take them to a whole new level, they chose him in the end. They were right to do so by the way.

Dude. . .Maiden! I've never met a huge diehard fan living here in the states. I think they're looked at more as a bit of 80s nostalgia, but I know that when they were popular here, it was mostly with teenage boys who liked the skeleton guy on their albums. And actually for an 80s hair band, their music wasn't too bad. I mean, there was waaaay worse out there.

Iron Maiden are the best band in the world.

American opinion of them has change between their different albums but they are still influencing a lot of new musicians from the states for example band like My Chemical Romance have sited Iron Maiden as one of their major influences...
BTW i hate MCR

Oh and Paul Dianno didnt leave he was kicked out because he was taking a lot of drugs and his performances were suffering. Steve Harris thought it would be best for the band if paul left on account of his poor performances near the end of his stretch with Maiden.

Iron Maiden was an 80s staple of Head Bangers through out America. Along with Judas Preist, Black Sabath, Slayer, Motor Head, and Anthrax

Then came Metallica and blew them all out of the water!

because of the fact whilst we've been searching for berries in the woods and enjoying our little drums and close by American music, that they had real Classical music, which helpped them plenty. If Mexico did extra Rock, as a replace of Rancheritas they may be extra improve than The U.S. because of the fact the Aztecs have been good at math. we've good bands, however the yank way of existence went back to it rather is primitive approaches and commenced to hearken to Rap. Kermit the frog ought to tutor him/her self extra till now asserting something with reference to the Orchestra. Steven Tyler from Aerosmith performs the violin. Our way of existence isn't approximately choir or band or orchestra, unfortanetly it rather is all approximately activities, and we don't even focous in the coolest ones. we choose extra music concept classes in our faculties, and then supply the scholars the determination of the intrument that they like to play. And get all of them started whilst they're youthful, so as that they are in a position to play somewhat some diverse intruments, like Steven Tyler. (i'm listening to Aerosmitn good now)
