What are some good places to visit?

Determine what are your interests, your budget, time of the year, & how long you will be here. LA, NYC, Chicago, or Las Vegas are some answers for the big city, fast paced lifestyle. Florida, Texas, or southern CA is great for beach weather this time of year. History buffs should try the areas around Williamsburg, VA, Washington DC or Boston, MA. Smoky Mountains in TN & NC or Yellowstone out west for wildlife & natural wonders.
Even better yet, go see the real America. Rent a car & drive along whatever US highway interests you in any part of the country, such as US 40 our 1st National Highway or take a tour with a group, whether it would be New York City, in Amish country or a tour of antebellum plantations. We have so much to see & do, even we don't get a chance to do it all.

California, Miami, Hawaii, Vegas, and cross over to Mexico if you near the west souther west coast

I went twice in California, and I also did a trip in to visit the west (grand canyon, mesa verde, moab, monument valley, death valley...)
I love California (especially san francisco and the yosemite park) !!
