Why in so many regions and religions people -both men & women- tradtionally wear some kind of head-covering?

Well. There is a clear explanation for this. A man will get attracted to a woman and a woman will get attracted to a man. According to scientists, its proven that their face is the main portion which will make them get attracted and try to get pleasure from the opposite sex.

Suppose a male goes through a lonely road, sees a beautiful girl, her face exposed. He might try to do some harm for her say like rape. But, the same man sees a woman who has her head covered with a shawl. The male will not have any idea whether its a teenage girl or an old woman so, the chances of a bad thing happening is reduced.

This is why Muslim Women wear shawls to protect themselves from unknown men but once they are in their home, they have the freedom to remove them cause their own family members will not get attracted to them for sensual pleasure.

And I don't think men need to wear them only in case if he needs to hide his face from women to avoid any wrong thing from happening.

Maybe they are saying it is for religion, but they are just covering up the fact that they feel physically disgusting.
