This isn't actually a question really is it? This is a statement. It's a statement that unfortunately you are not going to get across. Not to those it's aimed at anyway.
1. The person answering a question they know nothing about probably is totally unaware of their ignorance (intellectually) or they're too far up their own backside to even care.
2. Those that answer just to get points are not bothered anyway, so won't take what you're saying to them on board.
I guess for those that don't know the correct answer, it would make sense to research first so as to be properly informed because as "undir" mentioned; answering queries concerning health issues & the like incorrectly would be the wrong thing to do. For those that are "know-it-alls" well! They think they know it all already & for those that are "collecting points" WHY! They can't do anything with them.

Sometimes, even when I know I don't actually know the answer to a question - and I don't know the answer to this one - I still feel my input is useful.
The questioner will be able to see a range of opinions and will be in a bette3r position when trying to decide what the answer is.
I think this is all the more so the case when there is probably no one right answer to a question. There are many non-factual questions like this.
And there is the points thing . .

I guess some people do it for the points, some people don't realize that they don't know enough about the subject or that what they think they know is incorrect and I guess some people just want to try to help but don't realize that sometimes no answer is better than a wrong answer.
I personally don't answer if I feel like I don't know enough. Sometimes I get annoyed when I see people answer questions completely wrong, especially when it's about something important like health or something.

The pursuit of knowledge is an important entity. Trying to answer questions without a total fact finding mission, is like riding a bicycle, you have to try, but once you learn you can never forget.
Building your self esteem has to start somewhere and by answering a question one is testing ones knowledge, and if the answer is correct one can give oneself a pat on the back, if not then, we can try again.

I don't know....
kidding!!! I only answer questions I have an opinion about or know the answer to or can hazard a guess at.
I imagine most people who try to answer questions they don't know the answer to do it because they want 2 points.

i think they're trying to rack up useless points.
obviously, i couldn't possibly know the personal reasoning behind the actions of other users - who could?, but thanks for the points anyway.
