Well plants are organisms that don't breathe in oxygen. They breathe in carbon dioxide.

Anaerobic bacteria die in the presence of oxygen. Some of them live in the intestinal tracts of human and that is part of the reason for the stink of feces. To grow these bacteria, a special environment is created to keep out oxygen. Others of this group cause serious infections like gangrene (Clostridium perfringens) or can kill with toxins such as botulism (Clostridium botulinum).

There are microbes that live near underwater volcanic fissures that reduce sulphur, instead of oxygen, as part of their life cycle.
Not sure of their name. Maybe Sulfolobales?
