Maybe an american website would do that will accept my payment (debit card) and deliver it direct to my friend in Newark or a shopping voucher that has stores over here and over there.

why not send something via amazon.com, postal should be a minimum & they have a wide choice, or even try ebay.com many new things on there

The problem is many US sites will not accept a debit card, which is well annoying because they have some great stuff and since she is in the US and they don't deliver in Europe it may be your only chance to buy with a lot sites (Guess is a good example, great things but only for the USA and only with a CC).
Your best bet is to use an English site, they're a lot more accomodating. Try Amazon, they have other stuff besides books.

i dont see how u cant buy here, things are exchanged every minute of the day now ebay and the internet are about.i dont think the laws would apply to a gift anyway it would be where moneys exchanged.think it would be more special to her if it was something traditionally british .
