I'm sure the greatest discovery is electricity, but I think refrigeration is the greatest invention.

Im not sure if this counts...but..Nachos..I believe it was created by ancient gods to fuel their powers..and it was then bestowed to humanity as a gift to show their love for the mere mortals.

I would have to say the greatest discovery ever was the refining of petroleum. Without that ability we would not have a great majority of the products that we use today.

Some may say the automobile, but that is coming back to haunt us now.
Electricity certainly ranks high.
How about the vaccine that ended polio? Dr. Jonas Salk is credited with that one.
Above all, the T.V. set is my favorite.
Without it, we'd have twice as many people living on earth.

Great question! I think it's the electricity.Without it what would we do? Even though telephone is up there too :-) When there's no electricity,you can always talk on the phone for hours!

communtication devices. home phones, cell phones, walky talkies ect. if not we would have to write letters; which would invlove a lot of planning ahead to get things done. or you have to drive to where ever the other person is to tell them what you have say. and no 911 calls either.
