I, for one want to apologize to all of you for all the pain we Bible thumping christians cause you. We seem to forget that we're ALL sinners in need of a Savior and we have no business pointing a finger at you when we ourselves are guilty of so many other things. We forget that the gospel is the "good news" of how much God loves us and "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." We have been hurtful to you and you don't deserve it. I've apologized before and you all have been very kind. But I feel I should apologize often, because the problem of our ignorant hatred is not likely to go away. So I ask for your perpetual forgiveness. I ask often because I want you to be reminded that I, for one, love you and cherish you for the precious people you are. Please pray for us. It is my sincere hope that we all find heaven and find our eternal peace with the Father there.

"Cork" You are so right!

2006-11-23 20:35:50 · update #1

"Tommy Blue" - I didn't consider that "Cork" could be referring to being gay when he mentioned repentance. I understood 'repent' to mean what it means for everyone...that we all must repent from all sin. I don't see how being born gay can be a sin. You made a good point - Thank you!

"Squelchpatrol" read my comments above. That should clear things up. Thank you for your kind response!

"Cork....You are so right".....

I'm quite interested in your praise of Cork's answer.

Cork states, "Preachers have driven many homosexuals away from churches that may have repented but left bitter and full of hate because of being bashed".

MAY HAVE REPENTED FOR WHAT?

If you still believe gay people should go to church and repent for the so-called sin of being gay......your apology just went down the toilet.

Maybe I'm reading too deeply into this, but making a public apology on behalf of the Christian community and then sending kudos to one who thinks gays should repent for being gay, it kinda deletes the apology altogether.

You seem like a nice guy and appear genuine in your apology.
We just won't be doing lunch anytime soon.

I can forgive you when you and your fellow "followers" realize that being gay isn't a sin at all.
That COMMITTED, LOVING relationships are NEVER ONCE condemned in the Bible. Not once.

I can forgive you and your fellow "followers" when you begin to actually follow the ONLY Mandate Jesus left us all: "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

I can forgive you and your fellow "followers" when you realize that the Bible has been MISTRANSLATED several times by the hands of men who were no less a stranger to sin and corruption than anyone is now.

I can forgive you and your fellow "followers" when you stop discriminating against people because they are different, and start understanding what the true meaning of EQUALITY really is.

I can forgive you and your fellow "followers" when you all realize that as "Christians" and "American citizens" we ALL have a duty to follow our national constitution and bring the dream of EQUALITY to every citizen, not just those who follow your faith.

I can forgive you and your fellow "followers" when you all recognize that this country is NOT GOVERNED BY YOUR FAITH.

I can forgive when you and your fellow "followers" actually do what you say, not just blow smoke.

I don't want your "compassion" which more often than not just equals pity, I want recognition that I'm not any different because of who I love. I'm a parent, like many of you, I'm a daughter, a sister, an Aunt and a LIFE PARTNER. I do not have a "lifestyle" (What a FILTHY WORD!) but a LIFE!

I'm not a "gay American" but an AMERICAN. I'm not a Gay Mom, but a MOM, I'm not a Gay daughter, but a DAUGHTER....

I didn't ask to be born who I am, I didn't choose to be gay, I tried "fitting in" being "straight" but it's not who I am. It's not who I was created to be. It took me years to finally accept that. To throw away the stigmas society placed on me because I seemed "different" to you.
You know what the real irony is? I'm not any different.
Not because of who/how I love, not because of my way of living, not because of any choice...I'm exactly the same.
I'm just an other human being, made of flesh and bone and blood and filled with emotions.
I'm a product of my parents and teachers and extended family. I'm a work in progress and I'm perfectly NORMAL!

When you and your fellow "followers" can see this, that's when I can forgive all the pain and hurt and discrimination and denying me basic human and civil rights.
Until then, don't ask for my forgiveness, ask for God's.

I'm only human.

i think your question is a little bit loaded, correct me if im wrong...but when you say "were all sinners", i hope your not implying that being gay is a sin and a choice that people choose. Otherwise, I love your coments.
Heres a link that delves into the scriptures in the bible that most "Christians" use to condemn gays...and it unravels them and shows that homosexuality isnt really the sin that most say it is. Check out the site and Get the facts! God Bless us all!

As you have already surmized-being GLBT is not a sin. GLBT are born this way and only wish to live in peace with the rest of humanity.
We all need to forgive each other in our own ways and learn to live in peace.
I am Buddhist but our teaching are nearly the same as Christians.
Stop beating yourself with the cat-of-nine-tails and learn we are ALL precious not just a few.

are no bible thumping christians.
bible thumping hypocrites-yes,

Believers don't shove gospel.
Jesus says "if not welcome-dust off feet and leave"

never ever push religion or bash religion on people.
teach and preach---all required..
you tell em---they hear it....they can make choice...

thumpers push people away from god not draw them closer..
hypocrites have cost God many a lost soul.
Preachers have driver many homosexuals away from churches that may have repented but left bitter and full of hate because of being bashed.

God's true believers don't do that.

love God and your neighbor also.

that is beautiful.
even if christians are sometimes well known for their cruelty and narrowmindedness, one thing you are almost guaranteed of, and that is that the majority of gays and lesbians will freely accept, and offer you the blessings of their prayers.
