Think of this brutality as the equivalent (in a way) of the convulsions that Europe went through several centuries ago. I believe it will only get worse before it gets better. It will only get better once this natural evolution of religion (and society) reaches a certain point. Europe (and mainstream Christianity) reached that point only after great amounts of violence and bloodshed. I believe this will happen here in the Muslim world as well, but violence and lots of it are the needed catalysts. Sadly, this will probably not happen in out lifetimes, maybe not even our children's' lifetimes.
In the meantime, you ask about armies and fighting. What army will fight who? This is everyone fighting everyone else. It is still pretty much an "us versus them" mentality here in the Muslim world and them is anyone who does not agree with us. Like i said, this will not change anytime soon.

Unfortunately in many cases, it's the leaders of the country (the ones that control the money) that support and are supported by the terrorists.
If they actually put down the terrorists, they would lose their power.
Since they don't want to be tossed out, they talk bad about the USA to keep the terrorists stoked up.
That is why organazitions like Hezbollah get money from corrupt governments and use part of it to help the 'poor arabs'.
It's good PR, and when they want to hide weapons, explosives, missles, etc. in the peoples basenments, how are they going to say no?
Many of the leaders in the middle east are afraid their people will start asking, why can't we be free & be able to get ahead by hard work like the Americans (Or the Israelis).
So they make us seem like evil oppressors.
The worst part is, many politicians here in this country pander to the same line and just feed the PR machine of the extermists.
It MUST be our fault, we MUST have done something to make them feel this way about us...
it's a lot of horse manure, but if it gets them elected, they use it.

Religions don't have armies, countries do. Warring religious factions within a country is a civil war...or what Iraq is or is on the verge of.

According to the historical timetable presented in the book "Hidden Agenda-US/NATO in the Balkans", there were groups of Muslims in Bosnia-Herzegovina who rebelled against Izetbegovic's Islamic regime, and in 1994 (yes, it is not publicly known) were bombed and annihilated by (the supposedly "Christian" organization) NATO.

You'd think so wouldn't you?
It seems that Muslims have a different mind set. You'd think that they enjoy getting kicked around.
