Human Choronic Gonatropins, which is what hCg stands for, urine tests are done primarily to detect a pregnancy, since non-pregnant females should have no detectable hCG in the urine. It is also used to diagnose and track treatment in so called trophoblastic diseases. This is a group of disorders related to molar tumors, and some types of cancers. In that case, a doctor would not only order a qualitative test to detect the presence of hCG, but also a quatitative analysis to determine how much of it was present. So far as I am aware, those are the only uses of the test.

If you are pregnant then you leave a urine sample every time you go to the doctor. They do test for HCG the first time, but after that they test for proteins and sugars in your urine to make sure you are healthy. These could be a sign of preeclampsia or gestational diabetes. HCG is only done to check for pregnancy to my knowledge(sorry I misread your question when I read it first, but now you know exactly why they test your urine throughout pregnancy).

hey.....
well i read that´s at fist for checking pregnancy or no pregnancy....
but on the the package insert stands sometimes it could happen that you´re not pregnant but the test say yes you´re pregnant
´cause an tumor or cancer, testicle cancer by men and some other diseaces have the same hCG hormones too and this is why the test could say yes....
but please don´t worry they say it´s not too often.... just some small per cent....
and for this ask your doc for case...!!!
if you made/ make a test and it says yes you´re pregnant then go always to your doc.....
that´s better for you and if you got really pregnant for your baby too.....
hope it helps you a little.....
greetings

It can be used as drug test ... or also to see if you have blood in your kidney because of stones.
