"You are a true friend" definitely sounds more natural.

The first one, "you are a true friend" would tell the person that he/she is a sincere friend. This would be a compliment since you are in essence, telling the person that they exhibit the qualities of true friendship. It also shows that you are not claiming sole possession of that person as the second sentence does. The second one, "you are my true friend" has two possible connotations. First would be that the person belongs to only you (my) and you are claiming sole ownership of that person as a friend. The other possible meaning might be that the person is the ONLY friend you have. This is where the written word can take on different meaning than the spoken word. If these words were spoken, then the first sentence would carry as much weight as it does in written form. The second sentence, spoken, would depend on the word that is emphasized. If you said "you are MY true friend", that would get into the sole ownership thing I spoke of earlier. If you said "you are my TRUE friend" then that would tell the person (possibly) that of your friends, he/she is the one that is most true to you.

I'd pick ' You are a true friend ' it sounds alot more natural. Cause' if you pick the second one it's like you're saying that you own your true friend, because of the word ''my''.

It is not good practice to use words whose meaning is not known by most people. In this case, few people know the meaning of alacrity. Some may be offended. Some may make a guess at the meaning and be very wrong. Some may just ignore your statement. Better ?? : The people criticise the President with alarming eagerness.

first is more common and a bit more natural, the meanings differ slightly, the first one is a little more about respect/admiration (has the implication that the person would be a friend to any decent person) and the second is slightly more about attachment/loyalty

you would have to be very close to use the second one sincerely

The first "you are a true friend"

The second doesn't flow right and sounds too posessive.
