It's not about finishing your task before you die, it's just about the task itself. Hate to say it, but human life isn't really more significant than a chicken's life, the only difference is we can conceptualize our own existence. Whatever task the universe has set for you, it will set for others after you, until the task is complete. So what matters is just making progress in such a way that someone else can take up your work, where you left off. We're all just threads in a canvas, and no one thread is meant to hold it together.

Normally I don't feel so, but yes I felt similar once when I was admitted in hospital for Jaundice. I was given the medicine for Malaria instead. This immediately had a very negative effect and my life was risked. I felt that my dreams will not be completed.. small dreams but I wanted to experience them before dying. So with my will power and I kept praying to God and tried to recover. I did recover Miraculously !!
So my suggestion is, we should plan our actions to fulfill our dreams. Determination can do magic.
Secondly we should have small dreams.. big dreams will take too many life's and more dreams means more desires.. this might lead to sufferings.. So desires are small then happiness will be more

yes when someone come down with a deathly disease like cancer. The only think one can do at this moment is to let go of what had not been finished and focus on being well and happy till the very last moment. By saying this one needs to do more good and bad at this moment to have that kind of good feelings.

What's the task? It sounds like I am in God's employment or something. BTW what are the terms of employment? When will I be terminated? What are the retirement benefits?

You can start a whole new philosophy or religion with this line of thinking.

Good Luck!

The fact that I'm still alive means that God's not finished with me yet. He knows the exact moment. I will not die one second before my work on this earth is done.

Of course.... It only means that you must not let each precious moment of your life pass by without doing something important and make a lasting impression upon others.....

What a wise thing to say...... Now, I hope that you will do something about it?!!!

As a proverb says, "Time and tide wait for no man", it's all right to think about it once in a while, therefore, we need to plan well and proceed as best as we can. Sometime, I pray for my proper longevity so that I can complete what I need to do for my students, colleagues, friends, etc.

Yeah, not a very pleasant feeling, but one that everyone feels every once in a while in their life.
All you can do is brush it off and keep going.

That is why we must make hay while the sun shine, and not leave with too much regrets.
