I'm doing a bit of DJ-ing for some friends next week. I just play the tunes (no talking). The party is for a guy who is moving to the US and who likes Fastball, Sterophonics, etc. so not great dancy tunes but he did mention Shakira, Kylie, Punjabi Mc's, etc which gives me a little bit of hope that the night may be a success.

I wondered what songs would get you up on the dance floor?

i'm into hip hop so its Ludacris -"Southern Hospitality" for me. But a song that never fails to get people up and dancing is Beyonce -"Crazy in Love"......even people with a different taste in music seem to like dancing to it.

'I will survive' by Gloria Gaynor is always a favorite to get all on the dance floor. I dont know what it is about that song but, it never seems to fail to 'move' the people. Ive heard it played several times in a night too and the reaction just gets better each time.

LL Cool J's Doin It

is a classic....

[LL Cool J]
It's the first time together and I'm feeling kinda horny
Conventional methods of makin love kinda bore me
I wanna knock your block off get my rocks off
Blow your socks off make sure your G spots soft
[LeShaun]
I'm gonna call you Big Daddy and scream your name
Matter fact I can't wait for your candy rain
[LL Cool J]
So what cha sayin, I get my swerve on, bring it live
Make it last forever, damn the kitty cat's tight
[LeShaun]
Mmm... daddy slow down your flow
Put it on me like G baby nice and slow...

you're supposed to grind to this song. real hot
