I recently discovered that a friend of mine loves pearls, as I do. But is it weird for a girl to buy another girl jewelry for xmas if we're not partners? I'm thinking of getting her either a pair of earrings or a bracelet.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If you know what your friend likes, then buy it for her. Being a lesbian shouldn't even come to your mind if you're comfortable and secure about your sexuality.

I think it shows you have a very kind heart that you noticed what she liked and want to buy her a present that would be perfect for her. It's not strange at all and your brother is just twisted that he wants to turn it into something sexual like that. Maybe he is just insecure or maybe he wishes a friend of his would care that much to buy a great gift. Go for it and happy holidays.

It's perfectly acceptable to buy a friend jewelry. It's just a matter of presentation. Don't make a huge deal out of it and it shouldn't be a problem.

Just be careful not to be too scary. If you're not that serious dont take it too far. After going out with an ex for about a month, he gave me a silver bracelet with "Imogen, I love you" engraved on it. I have never been so scared.

it's a very sweet gift, and not at all weird. i always give my gal pals jewelry. one year i gave them all matching bracelets because each of them had admired a silver bracelet i have. so now we all have one...we call them our sister-friend bracelets. ;o]

That is ok to buy jewelry to your girlsfriend. when I went to Peru for vacation I bought my girlfriends jewelry it was pure silver and they loved it.
