It's as dangerous as cocaine, heroine, anphetamines, etc..etc......
Legislators are a bunch of hypocritical people.
Maybe the alcohol industry is too powerful, and buy politicians under the table. What do you think?

No, your theory is not all that true..

Its quite simple.. Drugs like cocaine can be manufactured in any backyard with great results in terms of quality standards (as if there is a standard!). This makes it difficult for the government to control how much is made & who gets to make it. So how does that make it illegal? ...the government cant get any profit off the sales of those drugs by means of tax!
Alcahol on the other hand needs expensive & large equipment to make, & the quality of alcaholic beverages made at home is distinctively poorer than that made in breweries, distilleries, wineries, etc. This means that only large, rich corporations can afford to produce this product & therefor need to run a legitimate business which will inevitably pay taxes to the government & so will the customer!

So basically, its all about the money & little to do with the danders of the product. Simple!

It can be dangerous and kills thousands of people each year due to drunk driving, alcohol poisoning and alcohol-related depression.

However, as it is VERY destructive to families and individuals alike, it is not nearly as harmful as the other drugs you have listed. Those drugs don't kill as many people as alcohol, but that is because less people use them. Per user, however, those drugs are much more life-ruining.

And what about cigarettes? Cigarettes kill geometrically larger sums of people each year, yet they are still legal too. (Rent "Thank you for Smoking". It is a GREAT satire on the tabacco industry and its corruption).

Also, you cannot just ban alcohol, because the demand for it skyrockets. This happened in the 1920s with Prohibition, which created more alcoholics and more problems. So, we just need to help ourselves and those around us with alcohol-related issues.

It is not an immediate danger as the drugs you mentioned are.

An alcohol overdose can be cured by throwing up, a drug overdose means death.

If you are allergic to alcohol, you get a stomach ache or get sick. If you are allergic to these drugs, you can cause death or serious damage to your body that you can never overcome.

Alcohol is a little more dangerous than caffeine or nicotine. Those drugs are just a tad more dangerous. Use your head.

Alcohol, properly used, is not only innocuous but there is some evidence that it is beneficial (red wine, for example). There are some people who have an addiction to the stuff (I know one), but for the vast majority of people it is a harmless indulgence. Presumably you are aware of the disastrous effects that arose from trying to prohibit it.

Yup .. I agree that alcohol is as lethal as those drugs you mentioned above .. Howver, it's not fair to blame the politicians in this .. As they are some politicians who wanna banned alcohol consumption .. But it was turned down by the public ..

The government tried to prevent sales - it was called Prohibition. And after a few years - the laws were reversed.
