I felt like you do, and it turned out I had very severe Grave's disease. I went to several doctors who were unconcerned.
Then (sorry) I went to the ER. The ER doc is the only one who took me seriously, actually examined me, did the tests necessary, and diagnosed me.

It is the stress that is causing your symtoms. The headcahes etc.
I have high blood pressure and it sits around 160/110 with medication. I dont get headaches but occassionaly when the blood pressure spikes I may get a little dizzy.
To lower your blood pressure through diet, cut out salt, alcohol, fatty foods. But most importantly, dont stress about it.
The lower 90 reading is the important one and had that been high your doctor would have been concerned. 90 is quite a good reading, not high. Average from memory is 120-110 / 80-90
Often when you are stressed or worried when the doctor is taking your blood pressure this can give a high reading.
Next time go to the doctors get to the surgery early and force yourself to sit and calm until its your turn. You will be surprised in the difference this can make. I have a blood pressure machine at home so I have done these little experiments and have found stress effects blood pressure.

While heart pounding, difficulty breathing and shaking could be signs of a panic attack, an average blood pressure of 171/90 is WAY too high. BP should avg. no more than 135/85. Your husband needs to find a new MD who will take the BP issue seriously. In the meantime your husband should lose weight and decrease salt intake. His BP may be high due to being overweight, although family history of hypertension can play a role. Right now I would say that your husband is a stroke waiting to happen. No matter what the reason, his BP is much too high and needs to be controlled.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.
The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

calm down-this anxiety over your blood pressure is only going to make it rise even higher. Try meditation. And then you will make a more clear-headed decision about what to do.

If you are stressful and if your B.P. is rising it means body is responding well to stress. Analyse the cause of your stress. If you can change the cause change it or try to get used to that type of stress.
