The Adolescent is a short book that Dostoyevsky never actually finished...it was intended to be a biography about a girl's life, into womanhood. But even the novella that is available is an excellent piece of literature and if you like Dostoyevsky already you will like it.

The Idiot is entirely something else. It's an excellent novel that you should definitely read. It is about a man whom people call an idiot just because he has epileptic attacks and he is childlike in that he is very virtuous, gullible, and doesn't lie. Also, there is an excellent DVD series in Russian that is sooooo good, and would be great to watch to help you pick up on the culture of the 1800s as well as the beautiful Russian language. Keep reading!

PS The DVD series is a 4 volume thing, you can buy it on amazon but it's expensive...I recommend renting it from netflix to see if you like it first. And yes it is subtitled too.
