You don't know if you'll live or die. The plane is going down. The crew has told you to prepare for a crash. People are in hysterics. Oxygen masks down. People screaming, praying, embracing strangers. Babies and children crying. Luggage, unbuckled passengers fly through the cabin. Your sitting in your seat. What do you do? What goes on in your mind?

I heard of someone who was in a 'plane that seemed like it was about to go down. It was in the days when there was still a smoking section. Basically, there wasn't an atheist or an ex-smoker aboard that plane!
I've been in a building where there was a bomb scare, and it was not possible to evacuate because of the lack of lead time, and so the boss had made the only decision possible: keep the information to as small a group of people as possible. I ate my apple.
Given the quality of airline food, I don't know that I'd continue eating.

I remain calm, grab an oxygen mask...grab some pillows, blankets, anything cushion-ey. Then I bend over on the ground in front of my seat, placing my head as close to the floor as possible. I take the cushions and put them over my head and neck to try to the best of my ability to prevent any spinal, head and neck injury. I wait calmy until I hear it...the crash. Assuming I survive the impact...Most people actually survive the impact and die in the fire. I look out the window to see if we've hit water, or land. I move quickly to avoid the flames that will erupt any second. If water, I grab that emergency raft [I get first dibs b/c everyone else is probably out of it b/c of head injuries and I always sit near emergency exits] I release the emergency exit door, throw out the raft and jump in and grab a few in shape looking people to help me paddle like crazy. If there is no raft, then I jump out and swim until I"m far enough away to avoid further injury and then I would simply float w/ the floating device that is under the seats until rescuers arrive. If we hit land, I jump out and use my sprinting skills.

The only thing going through my mind... survival.

A lot of people would pray, think of loved ones, holding each other, or relaxing. I say those people are Weak and Stupid.
People never look at ALL the other options.
I would increase my chances of survival.

First I would look around for something I could use as a parachute than find away to get out of the plane, jump out and hold on to the "parachute".
By doing this you INCREASE your chances of survival.

The weak and stupid die while the strong and smart survive It's Called
NATURAL SELECTION!!!!!!!

i had a dream about this, and i was with my younger brother and my mom. i just prayed, and i was fine. that was it; i was overcome by this sense of peace. i just told my mom and brother not to worry, that it would be ok (i didn't know whether or not we would die, but it didn't matter either way). i think, if this happened in real life, i would pray, and i think i would be ok with whatever happened; whether i was alone or with a family member. really. i'm not an overly religious person, but in this dream i prayed, and i was fine. it's the craziest thing..

Well, I'm sitting in my seat and on my mind goes something like "It would be nice for the airline companies to have emergency guns so I can blow my brains out... and end faster the suffering, but it looks like I just have to be patience to die".

Do whatever I could to maximize my chances of survival; brace myself properly, use pillows, make sure I knew where the exits were (something I do whenever I get on a plane), get ready to get out of my seat belt as soon as possible and get out of the plane if I can.

Redirect your thoughts. Think about all the good things in your life and how you have made a difference to other people. Would you rather die happy thinking of what you've achieved, or die stressing out and panicking?

Keep your wits about you. Hope that the plane crash lands in a lake. And whatever you do, don't forget the hatchet attached to your belt.
