Armageddon was an amazing flick. One of my most favorite movies of all time actually. So yea, that's my pick.
But really... who gives a **** what these "professional" movie critic's think. Where do they get off thinking that they're better than everyone else at determining which movies are the great's and which aren't. I mean, that's up to each and every particular movie goer to deside that for themselfs. Now sure, some movies just totally suck the big one obviously. But there's no "set formula" for deciding the quality of a flick. And there's no set group of people who know what rocks for everyone else overall. I'm stickin' with my Armageddon Ebert & Roeper... and speakin' of stickin' it... that's just what u can do where the sun don't shine!!!

i don't have a issue with critics shooting at action pictures that are "in basic terms" commercially effectual. after all, a "action picture critic" ought to have extra occurring intellectually than purely propping up action pictures that ring a bell with the ordinary public. you recognize? I mean, purely because of the fact a action picture rakes in hundreds of thousands on the container place of work, it would not inevitably mean that it became a good action picture. Are a number of them snobs? particular. yet, i think of they serve a clever function nonetheless. a good critic ought to grant a CONTEXT that the well-known filmgoer lacks: he/she ought to recognize different action pictures in the style in question, and additionally should be conversant with past action pictures via that director and those actors. The critic can then grant a extreme yardstick; i.e., what ought we to assume from that filmmaker below those circumstances? Then, the ordinary public of the evaluation can cope with regardless of if those expectancies have been fulfilled, handed, or failed. Pauline Kael became my all-time prominent. I nonetheless savour analyzing collections of her previous action picture comments. Harlan Ellison became additionally wonderful, even nonetheless he became by no ability an entire-time critic. Of on the instant's team, I incredibly savour: Manohla Dargis (enormous apple circumstances), Mick LaSalle (S.F. Chronicle), and Scott Foundas (L.A. Weekly). i detect Ebert to be friendly and generally readable...yet extraordinarily inconsistent, which I surely have a issue with.

I commonly enjoy sci-fi movies that get bad reviews. I don't think reviewers approach them properly, and so frequently misjudge them.
