Definately much better in the days of Kayfabe. Heels were heels, babyfaces were babyfaces and the drama was in the ring not all in vignettes. Old Schoolers could get a crowd into a match and tell a story with something few wrestlers these days can use.. Ring psychology. Thats a real talent. Not knocking all the young guys out there as Ken Kennedy, the Late Eddie Guerrero, and Chris Jericho all have it down to art.
Matches sometimes went on as long as 2 hours( rare) but most went almost if not to a 20 minute time limit and 2 out of 3 falls. Now 6 minutes is the average with a whole 15- 17 at a PPV.
About the time Hogan came in it all went to Flash and show and not who has real talent getting the big push. Examples would be Hulk(I can't Wrestle) Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Great Kahli, Chris Masters, or Goldberg.
I can remember when the original 4 horsemen used to Battle with Dusty Rhodes and a young Sting(er). Or Going to Armory to watch Roddy Piper against Playboy Buddy Rose in a 1 hour Cage match for 7 buck front row.
Now it's 500 bucks front row for Wrestlemania, and the matches arent as good.

I gotta agree with most of the responses here.. the old days. I miss the greats like Junk Yard Dogg, Hillbilly Jim, Big John Studd, Jake the Snake Roberts, The British Bulldogs, Ronnie Garvin, Sergeant Slaughter ( before he became an old WWE fart) , Jessie the body ventura, Andre the Giant, Terry Funk, The Four Horsemen, Ricky The Dragon Steamboat. Today's guys are cool... but a bit too shallow or they dont stick around in the limelight to get to know them.

I think it was better in the old days. It's not bad now, and I still love wrestling, but in the old days, I think that the wrestlers had more character and were definitely a lot more fun to watch. They came out acting all crazy, wearing these wild costumes -and I loved it! Now, sometimes it just seems like a soap opera with lots of fighting and body slamming going on. Like I said, I still love wrestling, but it's just not the same anymore.

sure, sure I do, and commonly i'm saddened by the particular incontrovertible actuality that once a pay-in line with-view they at contemporary initiate hyping the subsequent one. yet that comes for the actual incontrovertible actuality that there's a pay-in line with-view each and each month (each and every from time to time 2 a month) and inventive crew has to have some thanks to promote the shape. decrease back contained in the days of the former WWF there became purely The Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, SummerSlam and Survivor sequence, (WCW/NWA ran pay-in line with-perspectives in the time of alternating months) and with a 2-3 month hollow in between there became extra time to advance a storyline even as nevertheless focusing on the wrestling exciting component and for those "feuds" that needed that little better something there became Saturday evening substantial adventure (conflict of the Champions for WCW).

I agree with you-wrestling was much better back in the day. But maybe that's because I didn't know it was worked when I was a kid. I still go to local independant cards sometimes and I enjoy how much the kids enjoy it and how hard the wrestlers work to entertain the crowd. During the intermission the faces sign autographs for the kids and the heels brush them off-that's how it should be. I couldn't imagine taking a kid to a WWE show. "Adults only" wrestling is sort of like an "adults only" department store Santa.

The Old days. Nothing like the blood baths they used to have before blood was considered a bio-hazardous substance. The 4 Horsemen Ric Flair his blond hair used to be red with all the blood. It doesn't even matter they cut them selves ( they got paid more for bleeding ) it was just awesome.

It was better in the old days. I used to watch it with my grandpa. We had some wrestlers come to our grade school when I was in like 4th grade. I remember it was Rufus R. Jones & Bulldog Bob Brown. It was pretty cool.
