I usually call them USAians or USonians because I think "Americans" really refers to anyone from either of the american continents.

What do you think?

I think Americans is the best term. We are the United States of America. If we were from Brazil in South America, we'd be called Brazilians, Peru- Peruvians, etc. Since we have America in our countries name, American is a great term.

Good question;)

I think we are pretty used to being called Americans and I doubt if you will be mistaken for someone from Central or South America. After all, USA stands for United States of America.

We call ourselves Americans..good approach though to try not to confuse us with another continent or country with America in the title. Thanks for not putting us down like most of these people who have commented. It's so rediculous to have racist views on an entire country, or any race for that matter!

"Americans" is good. That's how those of us from the United States have chosen to refer to ourselves. And we're really the only ones who've made that choice. But we won't be offended if you call us Texans, Oklahomans or Floridians, either. Thanks for asking, by the way.

People generally accept that "Americans" means citizens of the United States. "Canadians" are people who are from Canada. And "Mexicans" hail from Mexico.

US citizens, it's what they are. A Brazilian is also an American; A Canadian, the same.
US citizens just stole for theme selves the name Americans. It's typical of their arrogance.
