Not all Viruses can be detected by some or all Programs , Not all viruses are viruses , For example many Spyware and Adware programs pretend they are viruses attacking your PC and keep advertising virus programs.

Lots of viruses need to be removed manually no matter what anti virus you use. If your MCaffee is up to date and it cannot detect the virus at all then something must be wrong. I would research p.u.p if I were you and look for remove options. You will probably need to backup the system registry and edit lines in the regedit.

It really is not that hard once you get used to it. I am not familiarize with MCaffee but Norton webside has a database of viruses and other problems and will direct you on how to remove things. But it is important to update your anti virus and keep it active to keep the problem under control. You must snip a virus at the root witch in many cases can be hard to find. Most viruses and other bad code will first attempt to stop you from removing it. If you make some progress and remove some of it it will re infest it self sometimes as soon as you delete it.

One last note many viruses will put other viruses on your PC so you might not have just one.

First try to open your task manager. If you can then that is a good sign I find that in 90% of computers infested with viruses you will not be able to open task manager. In order to get rid of a virus you will sometimes need

Task manager , updated anti virus program , an anti spyware and adaware program , and regedit a file on your PC.

Note: Do not tamper with regedit until you have made a backup and ruled out everything else. You can seriously mess up your PC.

Sorry I cannot take the time right now to find you Urls to helpful files or investigate this virus or problem my self. I am very busy and need to go. I hope others will make suggestions of there own. I get rid of viruses all the time.

1. If McAfee cannot detect them , then how do you know that you have them?

2. A PUP is not a virus! A PUP is a "potentially unwanted program" of which the user is left to make the decision to keep or delete.

I suggest that you try to carryout system restore to a day previous to the day when there was no virus or any problems. It may be a few weeks or months back. You have to decide the date. Detailed instructions are posted at http://fixit.in/systemrestore.html The problem is likely to be solved. Then,You insatll a standard antivirus soft ware such as Norton, AVG , Avast ( free antivirus software and Ad-aware, Ewido ( free spyware removers). You can download free softwares at
http://fixit.in/antivirus.html and http://fixit.in/spywareremover.html
